"Well, screw me sideways," exclaimed Sawyer, bending down and hoping to high heaven that the dog was a friendly one and wouldn't bite his hands on approach. Looked small enough that probably couldn't do damage unless directed, he supposed, but truth be told, Sawyer didn't know what the hell to do with dogs on the best of days. Vincent had been especially calm, as far as Sawyer could tell, but he'd been well-trained. "You really do have a dog."
Glancing up with a cheeky grin, Sawyer shook his head flippantly.
"And just so you know, there ain't nothin' more depressing than knockin' and having no one show up. A whistle at least lets me play it cool."
