Richards took notice of the company before anyone else, announcing the unexpected visitor to the Madrox-Miller household with a series of high pitched barks that surprised Jamie to the point that he dropped the armful of books he'd been transferring to the living room shelf onto his foot. Swearing, loudly, what was a quiet afternoon at home suddenly descended into a flurry of activity, Jamie dancing around both from the pain and to avoid stepping on the dog as he navigated his way towards the door to see who the hell had ventured so far off the beaten path to pay a visit, all the while half-hoping it wasn't one of Layla's friends if only because she wasn't home, and he didn't like half of them.
He'd always been good at multitasking.
Bent over himself with his surely-bruised foot in hand, Jamie swung open the front door with the fury of frustration, leaning his weight against the handle just long enough to press his side into the doorframe instead, posture awkward. Richards bolted past him and outside, gunning for the culprit behind the whole ordeal: Sawyer.
